Body Odor (B.O) and Deodorant can be a sensitive issue for some people.  Everybody sweats, but every body is different.  Sweating is a natural biophysical process our body uses to eliminate toxins.

We want to sweat. It's good to sweat. It's healthy to sweat.

Unfortunately we've been lead to believe that we need very strong / special  products (filled with chemicals and perfumes) to prevent us from smelling bad when we sweat.  Here is the truth:

1. You don't need very strong, perfume filled products to use as a deodorant.

2. Deodorant and anti perspirant are two very different things and we will be talking more about them this month.

3. For now, you need to know that, antiperspirant block the pores in your underarms so that you DON'T SWEAT, which is unhealthy for us for many reasons that we will also discuss later.  Deodorant only masks the odor, without clogging your pores.

4. When you switch to an Organic or more natural deodorant you will very likely go through a 'smelly' phase, especially if you have been using commercial antiperspirants (the ones that clog your pores) all along. Here is why:

When you stop using antiperspirant (which clog your pores) all of a sudden your pores can breathe again, and your body starts to eliminate the toxins that have been STUCK inside you for a very long time. This is the DETOX phase I mentioned on the instagram post. It will take 7-10 days for your body to eliminate those backed up toxins. So here is how you survive those 10 days:

1. Wash the area with soap and water if you feel that you have started to smell.

2. Reapply your organic deodorant, and hold you head high.

3. Carry an extra t-shirt or shirt to work. Or wear a cotton t-shirt under your blouse or shirt that can absorb the sweat. You can take it off if you feel it doesn't smell good, and still have the outer shirt that is sweat free to wear. Do a sniff test and if your shirt smells bad change it.

I've found that I can keep everything under control and I don't have to worry, if I've taken a shower in the morning, and I'm wearing a fresh, clean shirt. Every shirt I wear, goes into the wash. No exceptions.

4. Hold your ground and don't go back to the commercial product no matter what.

Thousands of women around the world have made the switch to organic deodorant, and you can too with a little patience.  Good luck!
